PocketAudio (Microphone) App Reviews

Useless, you should record then transfer using other apps

Huge delay ~5s, and not working with microphones plugged in the lightning port

Horrible delay.

Using a 5Ghz WiFi network, an iPhone 5 and a 2013 MacPro... 8.5 seconds of delay. Thats waaaay beyond acceptable. The developers website says: "Dont expect to be real time". Whats the point, then? Recording? I can do this on my iPhone. Bad choice!

Entirely non-functional on Snow Leopard.

The utility application shows intermittent communication, delays of 5-10 seconds before echo to my headphones, and zero input level in System Preferences, Sound, thus no ability to actually record anything. Disappointing, and almost not worth the bother to get a refund.

don buy it

DONT buy it!!! it can be a useless application in ur phone. the delay is terrible so it will not work at all.

agreed

lag is terrible dont buy

Awful latency

Very poor latency, stay away from this app.

11/10

Great application, it helped me really much. My microphone broke down and I didnt want to buy a new one, so I found this awesome app and everything works perfectly!

Good

Good apps, but low speed, use with voxcommando!

Doesnt work

It doesnt work at all. The server forces the headphones as input device and when one tries to select the microphone, the server closes.

I hope it works with

Ventrilo 

Pocket Audio

I dont get it. Im a sound recordist by profession and for the life of me I cant get the sound quality of this app above abysmal . A click, click click is evident throughout the recording and nowhere on the site is there a mention of what bitrate or sampling rate the app uses. If anyone else has better luck with this more power to them.

mediocre at best

Get the other program they offer for $4 instead. In setting this up with Ventrilo, I did get it to work. Much finagling and reboot required after downloading their software on my computer. The latency is at least moderately unbearable, while the sound quality is decent, this version does not include the driver for the headphone speakers. They charge $4 for that version of the program. I have to say that if you want to try this, try that one because the feedback loop between saying something, your speakers playing it out loud and then the clear and crisp echo 3-4 times is absolutely unbearable, even in an otherwise silent room. Id use headphones to remove the feedback from the loop, but they would cover the microphone... in the headphones Im already using. Complete and utter fail. I dont understand why they even offer this program, when it only includes half the functionality. I guess to screw you out of an extra $2 when you have to buy the $4 anyways to do what you initially wanted.

Please let dis work!!!!!!

If dis dont work Ill be pissed off!!!!

Keeps crashing

I just bought this app and it keeps crashing now Im out 2 bucks!!!

coooool app

great with my pc!

Does not work on 32bit W7

I installed the software on my pc but I can not get it to work. It says connected but no audio is going or coming. Can not recommend at all. Wasted my money.

Wasted my money

I tried setting this up with my pc, and nothing I tried works. It wont connect, even though I followed the instructions to the letter. Either Im bad at reading or this app is crap. Im guessing its the second one. Save your two bucks and dont buy this.

the delay

the delay is awful

Bad for most purposes

I was trying to use this with voice recognition, but the delay is really bad. I have a fast computer it is Windows 7 and has an I 7 processor. It delays at least by a second or two. There is an update, but it does not seem to install very well or if at all. Just buy a traditional microphone.

Good, but room for improvement

This app works as advertised. While other reviewers have pointed out the delay (typically 2 seconds) between speaking and receipt, the developer also points this out as a limitation. This could be improved by offering bluetooth communication as an option; as it is, this works over WiFi only. I use Camtasia to remove the audio delay when Im making recordings, so its no big deal to me. Another limitation is that it only works when the device is unlocked. Thus the screen is lit and the touch-screen is live the entire time youre using it. You have to be VERY careful of stray finger touches, and you will waste extra power keeping the screen bright. Having the app continue to relay sound when locked would be a huge improvement! Finally, an in-app volume control would be awesome.
